Conference Overview
We welcome attendees with wide varieties of experiences, expertise, and backgrounds to join us at the Microsoft Conference Center. Users, contributors, and newcomers can share experiences and learn from one another to solve hard problems and grow a stronger open-source community.
November 11 | Tutorials
The event will be in-person at the Microsoft Conference Center, Times Square. (11 Times Sq, New York, NY 10036) Wednesday, November 9-10 are talk days, and Friday, November 11th is a tutorial day.
As we work to assemble programming for the 2022 conference, you can browse topics covered at the 2019 event for a better idea of the subject matter covered at PyData NYC.
About PyData
PyData is an educational program of NumFOCUS, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization in the United States. PyData provides a forum for the international community of users and developers of data analysis tools to share ideas and learn from each other. The global PyData network promotes discussion of best practices, new approaches, and emerging technologies for data management, processing, analytics, and visualization. PyData communities approach data science using many languages, including (but not limited to) Python, Julia, and R.
We aim to be an accessible, community-driven conference, with novice to advanced level presentations. PyData tutorials and talks bring attendees the latest project features along with cutting-edge use cases.
NumFOCUS
The mission of NumFOCUS is to promote open practices in research, data, and scientific computing by serving as a fiscal sponsor for open source projects and organizing community-driven educational programs.

Aaron is currently a data engineer at Squarespace, where he supports the company’s analytics platform. He has given talks at several major data conferences, including PyData, Spark Summit, and ODSC. Aaron is based in NYC and holds a PhD in machine learning from Florida Atlantic University.

Jane works at Two Sigma Investments, where her job is to think about the many ways datasets can break and how to deal with it. Previously, she worked as a data scientist in the child welfare domain. She has an undergraduate degree in Emergence in Complex Systems from NYU, and a MS in Applied Urban Data Science (also from NYU). Outside of work, she makes ceramics and runs a community direct aid operation to provide diapers to Brooklyn families every week.

He has been a core committer to the pandas project since 2011, and has managed the project since 2013. Jeff is a Managing Director at Two Sigma, overseeing the research environment. Jeff holds a B.S. in Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Thomas J. Fan is a Senior Software Engineer at Quansight Labs and is a maintainer for scikit-learn, an open-source machine learning library for Python. Previously, he worked at Columbia University to improve interoperability between scikit-learn and AutoML systems. He is a maintainer for skorch, a neural network library that wraps PyTorch. He has a Masters in Mathematics from NYU and a Masters in Physics from Stony Brook University.

Dr. Jacqueline Nolis is a data science leader with over 15 years of experience in managing data science teams and projects at companies ranging from DSW to Airbnb. Jacqueline has a PhD in Industrial Engineering and coauthored the book Build a Career in Data Science. For fun she likes to use data science for humor—like using deep learning to generate offensive license plates.
