Dr Maciej Hermanowicz

I am an IDL-turned-Python programmer with an uncommon career path. I have completed my PhD in astrophysics at the University of Cambridge and proceeded to a postdoc position at the Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology in Singapore, before moving back to the UK to join GlaxoSmithKline as a data scientist. These transitions made me an expert in processing, analysing and visualising diverse datasets, from luminosity functions and spectra of astronomical objects to gene ontology data and phenotypic signatures for cell biology. I enjoy the challenges of hunting for insight in complex data structures with a healthy mix of scientific insight, modelling and machine learning techniques.
