Since leaving academia I've worked for a range of companies in the data / computing world; from startups with only 4 staff to large multinationals with over 10,000 employees. I've been an R user for longer than I care to remember, though find myself moving more and more into the Python world (and dabbled in Java for a few years). My philosophy has always been find the best tool for the job, you never know what you may learn.
