Privacy Policy

We collect your information only with your consent; we only collect the minimum amount of personal information that is necessary to fulfill the purpose of your interaction with us.

Personal Information

We are committed to protecting your privacy and data security. We do not sell, rent, or distribute any of your personal information, including your email address, name, and other details provided in your profile, to any third-party entities unless we have received your explicit authorization to do so.

Access to your data is strictly limited to our conference team members, who operate under stringent compliance with EU and country data protection regulations. You retain complete control over your information and can amend or delete it at any time through our ticketing system.

Throughout our website, we strive to minimize the collection of personal data, both for speakers and regular participants. Speakers are required to provide personal information, some of which may be made public, such as a short biography. Our talk submission process transparently outlines which data will be published and which will remain private. Speakers have the opportunity to review and edit their public profiles before publication.

The information collected is utilized by the PyData Paris 2024 organization committee for event planning, management, and communication regarding the registered event and future gatherings. If you have submitted a proposal, the data provided may also be displayed in the event schedule, conference web pages, or social media announcements.

Some information is also used to create demographics for the conference in anonymous and aggregated form. We use this for advertising the conference to potential sponsors.

Cookies

The PyData Paris 2024 website was created with Squarespace. We have disabled all non-required cookies on Squarespace. The only outstanding cookies are the ones required for Squarespace to operate.

Audio, video recordings and photography

Photos, audio recordings, and video footage will be captured during the event to document the proceedings, with a particular focus on talks. These materials may be published on our websites or third-party platforms such as YouTube, Twitter, and Instagram, where we maintain accounts.

Third-party services

Several third-party services assist us in managing the website and the conference. In the course of their services, we may share certain information about our visitors with them. These services have been meticulously chosen based on their strong commitment to privacy and compliance with EU data privacy regulations:

  • Tito. We use Tito for ticketing. Tito uses cookies to track page views, and browser statistics. This information is passed along to the event organizer to give them information about how many people are viewing their event.

  • Pretalx. We use Pretalx to manage and review presentation proposals made to the conference by speakers. Users can manage their own accounts on this platform.

  • Google Drive. In order to manage documents within the organization committee, we use Google Drive for storage. Some of the information we collect for the purpose of running the conference, including personal data, will be stored in spreadsheets, documents or similar files on Google Drive.

Other services we use to provide and manage social media channels, videos, photos, are Twitter, YouTube, and LinkedIn. Please refer to their privacy policies for details on the collected data and how you can manage this. We have added links to the policies in the above list.

Vendors

As part of organizing and running the PyData Paris conference, we have to share some personal data with vendors, e.g. to print badges, tickets, etc. In all such cases, we will make sure that the vendors have proper EU data privacy regulation compliant privacy policies in place and will only share the absolute minimum needed to implement the task at hand.

Data Retention Policy

To comply with French legal requirements, some data will be retained for auditing purposes. Information regarding speakers and talks published on our websites will be preserved accordingly.
