I am a neuroscientist working in Sam Sober's lab at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. We study songbirds as a model system to understand how the brain learns and produces vocalizations and similar complex motor skills. I have developed a library that uses machine learning and neural networks to automate classification of data from behavioral experiments. Think of it as "speech to text for songbirds". I have also taught bootcamps on scientific coding and organized workshops on open source tools. In addition I have been involved with PyData Atlanta since the group formed. I organized and spoke at the first meeting of the group on our university's campus and frequently give lightning talks there on data science related themes.
