James Munroe

James Munroe is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics and Physical Oceanography, Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada. He is a physical oceanographer interested in big data for oceanography. He has active collaborations with researchers in both Australia and Canada working on climate and ocean modelling. James develops software for analyzing very large model output from high-resolution ocean/ice/climate models. He is a passionate about enabling fellow researchers and students to spend more time on their science by leveraging the PyData software stack. In addition to his academic and research experience with numerical ocean models, he has developed code commercially and teaches university courses in a scientific computing.
