Stephan Siemen is currently heading the Development Section at the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF). This section develops software and services to enable the handling/visualisation of large amounts of meteorological data in real time. Increasingly, Python is used to interface to these software packages. His personal interest is the visualisation of multi-dimensional data in meteorology and astronomy. He received his PhD from the University of Essex in 2002 on the topic of extraction of wind information from weather radar measurements. This work was in co-operation with the UK Met Office.
