Nils Hammerla

I am the Machine Learning Lead at Babylon Health. Launched in 2013 Babylon Health won the AXA Health award 2015, has featured in the Apple Health and Fitness App Store, and was recently included in Wired’s Top 100 Start-Ups in Europe. Our vision is to combine the latest technology with the knowledge and experience of the best doctors to make healthcare simpler, better, and more accessible and affordable for people everywhere. I hold a PhD in computer science and have extensive experience in the application of machine learning to problems in healthcare, including Autism, Parkinson's disease, depression, general physical activity, rehabilitation, sports and many others. In my work I aim to bridge the gap between the machine learning community and practical application domains like digital health. Currently we work mostly on text classification using deep learning in general and distributed representations in particular.
