Tyler is a computational virologist at the University of Oxford (SBCB Unit, Department of Biochemistry) focused on the biophysical properties of influenza and dengue viruses. He has a PhD in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology from Dalhousie University (Canada). He has been a core developer for the open source Python project (http://www.mdanalysis.org "MDAnalysis"), used for parsing molecular dynamics simulation trajectories, for several years. He is particularly interested in the use of spherical Voronoi diagrams to parse roughly spherical objects using Python scientific libraries. Tyler is also a chess master and a passionate distance runner.
