Benjamin studied biochemistry at the Martin-Luther-University in Halle(Saale). There, he also received his PhD in chemistry working on biotransformations and enzyme engineering. He was annoyed of repeatedly Excel-Fuing his way through the data he collected through all the scientific instruments so started to learn R and Python to automate boring tasks and do analyses. Two years ago he got a job as a Data Engineer at the Berlin-based fintech Europace AG and has not looked back. He is working on data solutions using AWS, serverless and Apache Spark and is fascinated by the promises offered by probabilistic programming and Bayesian methods.
