Valentin Haenel

Valentin is a long time Python for Data user who still remembers hearing Travis Oliphant's Numpy keynote at the EuroScipy2007 (maybe 2008?) where he first became aware of the scientific Python stack. Since then he has been around as a occasional contributor across more than 50 open source projects, for example within the Blosc ecosystem where he contributed to Python-Blosc, Bcolz and Bloscpack. Blosc went on to win Google open source peer bonus in 2017 and has been used in many critical places for it's interesting approach to compressor acceleration. Furthermore, he acquired significant experience as a Git coach and had published the first German book about the topic in 2011. In 2013 and 2014 he helped make PyData Berlin a reality and subsequently decided to work as the V.P. Engineering at TwentyBN, a Machine Learning startup from Kreutzberg.
