Short biography

After a bachelor in Computer Science and a master Artificial Intelligence, I started working at ING roughly one and a half years ago. After a one year IT traineeship, I started with the team I'm currently in, Wholesale Banking Advanced Analytics. Here I combine Data Science and Data Engineering to aid the wholesale banking side of ING.

One of the projects we're currently working on involves helping bond traders improve their decision making by leveraging the data we have to our availability. Most of the analytics for this project is done in Python, which brings me to the reason for this talk. As was the case for us, asynchronous programming is not something you start out with when writing your first application. When writing I/O heavy applications though, it can speed up your code significantly. This I discovered during our project and I'd like to share my experiences with you.
