Dani Ushizima is the Deputy Head of the Data Analytics and Visualization Group, and a PhD. Staff Scientist at the Computational Research Division at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL), where she leads research on image recognition and scientific analysis since 2007. She holds an appointment as a BIDS Data Scientists Fellow since 2014 at the University of California, Berkeley. Her research interests include pattern recognition, computer vision and machine learning in collaboration with national labs, academia and industry.
She is the recipient of the 2015 U.S. Department of Energy Early Career Award known as IDEAL, and a co-PI in machine vision for the DOE Center for Advanced Mathematics for Energy Research Applications (CAMERA). She is also recipient of the Science Without Borders award, granted by the Brazilian government to senior foreign researchers recognized internationally for leadership in priority areas of scientific research.
