Mark Mikofski is a senior staff researcher at SunPower Corp. More info is on his LinkedIn profile.
Here's some info about Mark you won't find on LinkedIn. Mark began programming with BASIC on an Atari 600, and one of his first apps was an electronic version of the song: Music Box Dancer. Many years later, Mark chose to pursue a BS in mechanical engineering, graduating cum laude. Then he switched gears and taught high school math and science, first in Tanzania, East Africa, for 3 years, then stateside, for another 3 years. Then Mark decided to return to engineering, first at a geological monitoring and hydraulic fracture design company in San Francisco and then in fire safety at UC Berkeley where he did a PhD. Switching gears again, Mark went into solar, first concentrated solar thermal and finally photovoltaics. But Mark never really lost his first love of programming, and engineering analysis was the perfect proving grounds for Mark to learn mathematical modeling, optimization and basic coding. Whether in grad school analyzing laser spectroscopy images or modeling the non-linear multiphysics of a solar steam generator, Mark was continuously learning how to write better code. And he's still learning to this day.
