Carl Kadie is a Research Engineer in the eScience Research group of Microsoft Research. He joined Microsoft 21 years ago for the founding of MSN. Nineteen years ago, he moved Microsoft Research to work on machine learning and AI. Applications have included collaborative filtering, the Outlook/Exchange/Hotmail spam filter, and HIV vaccine design. Recently, Carl is using Python to build open source statistics tools for genomics. His genomics-related work has appeared in Nature, Science, and other journals. He holds a PhD in machine learning from the University of Illinois.
