PyData NYC Extracurricular Activities

Code Duels

PyData NYC will host extracurricular events and sessions for conference attendees. For those interested, we will be offering:

Code Duels returns to PyData NYC for the second year in a row! This year, we have a friendly competition with three game modes:

In Code Golf, users will compete to solve Python-related problems in the shortest number of characters (your solutions can be edited/shortened throughout the conference).

In our original Code Duels, users will go head-to-head in a 1v1 coding competition: first player to solve a randomly decided problem wins.

The third game mode, Code Duos, puts a twist on this: teams of 2 players each will face off to solve a problem, but each team member can only write one line of code in the solution per turn.

Birds-of-a-Feather Sessions

Suggest a BoF Session

In an effort to increase the opportunities for community building, PyData NYC emphasizes birds of a feather (BoFs) sessions. These sessions usually include short presentations by a panel and a moderator with the bulk of the time spent opening up the discussion to everyone in attendance. BoF topics can be of general interest, such as state-of-the-project BoFs, or based on the themes of the conference and the mini-symposia topics.

We would like to solicit the community for ideas and organizers for BoF topics. Please include a small description of the BoF, possible panelists, and whether you would be willing to moderate.
