During the conference, attendees will have the opportunity to attend live keynote sessions and talks, lightning talks, and get to know fellow members of the PyData Community.

The event will be in-person at the Microsoft Conference Center, Times Square (11 Times Sq, New York, NY 10036). Wednesday, November 1 is a tutorial day, and Thursday and Friday, November 2-3 are talk days.

Keynote Speakers

Michelle L. Gill, PhD.

Michelle Gill is a Manager for Research & Development and a Senior Deep Learning Scientist in Life Sciences at NVIDIA, where she focuses on deep learning and HPC methods for scientific discovery. She is also the technical lead for BioNeMo, a platform for development and access to generative AI models in drug discovery. Previously, she was a Senior Data Scientist and Machine Learning Engineer at BenevolentAI, where she utilized machine learning to facilitate the drug discovery process. As a scientist at the National Cancer Institute, she developed software utilizing machine learning and compressed sensing algorithms. She holds a PhD in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry from Yale University and completed a postdoctoral research fellowship at Columbia University Medical School, where she developed and applied biophysical methods to study the dynamics and function of cancer-associated enzymes.

J.J. Allaire

Soumith also holds a visiting research position at NYU, focusing on Robotics. Soumith focuses on high-performance computing, computer vision, generative AI and robotics.

Diversity Scholarship Opportunity

One of PyData's goals is to increase awareness and excitement around opportunities for underrepresented groups in software engineering and data analytics. To increase diversity in scientific computing, our outreach program ranges from hosting workshops that introduce programming to young women to encouraging diversity in speakers at PyData.

For PyData NYC 2023, we are offering scholarship opportunities to those from underrepresented groups who may otherwise be unable to attend the conference.

Please note scholarships do not cover travel and lodging costs. Application closes on September 30, 2023.
