Metis

http://www.thisismetis.com/

Metis delivers an intensive, 12-week, instructor-led Data Science Bootcamp in New York City. The application period is underway now for this popular project-based program developed in collaboration with Datascope Analytics.

The course hammers the core data science tools of machine learning, statistics, and programming while students build a round portfolio of five complete data science projects. Upon graduating, students are prepared to hit the ground running as new data science hires, ready to acquire and clean structured and unstructured data, scrape the web, manage databases, design analyses and models, perform supervised and unsupervised machine learning algorithms, and interpret and communicate results, all within the practical context of the iterative design process.

Students build a strong foundation in python-language, the unix/linux command line, machine learning packages such as scikit.learn, other statistics modules including scipy and pandas, web scraping packages like BeautifulSoup and Selenium WebDriver, PostgreSQL and mongodb databases, collaborative coding under version control with git, working on remote cloud servers such as rackspace, custom visualization tools, especially matplotlib and d3.js with support in HTML, CSS, javascript and web hosting. Students will complete multiple data science projects with these tools.

Ongoing career coaching and job placement support means that graduates are assisted in the development of an online portfolio of projects. They are trained in interviewing, resume-writing, and salary negotiation, are introduced to the Metis hiring partners and participate in an in-person Career Day.
