Rui Miguel Forte

Rui Miguel Forte is currently the chief data scientist at Workable. He was born 
and raised in Greece, and studied in the UK. There, he read electrical and electronic engineering for his M.Eng. at Imperial College in London. He is an experienced data scientist with over 10 years of work experience in a diverse array of industries spanning mobile marketing, health informatics, education technology, and human resources technology. His projects include the predictive modelling of user behaviour in mobile marketing promotions, speaker intent identification in an intelligent tutor, information extraction techniques for job applicant resumes, and fraud detection for job scams.

In June of 2015, he published his first book “Mastering Predictive Analytics with R” with Packt. This grew out of a series of lecture notes given to graduate students in the business analytics MSc program at the Athens University of Economics and Business, in which he has been teaching since 2013. Besides R, he regularly codes in Python, Java and Scala. As the founder of the Data Science Athens meetup he is currently evangelizing and promoting the technology meetup scene in Athens. He is passionate about establishing a hub of excellence in data science and data driven technologies in his hometown.

When he is not writing code or teaching, Miguel is a science fiction and fantasy buff, an avid gamer and enjoys a wide variety of music.
