Tariq Rashid

Tariq has been working with data and open source tools since the last millennium!

That long journey includes analysing data from nuclear reactors (they crumble over time), introducing a global investment bank to R, using Python to extract patterns from astrophysics data to more recently analysis textual evidence and developing strategy for data analytics in government. He's most proud of his work to untangle government so it used open source better, did security more intelligently and was more friendly to small business suppliers.

He has a Masters Degree in Machine Learning and Data Mining, but tells people it's data science because it's just easier.

He loves Python and introducing complete beginners to Python. He's the author of a successful Python and fractals book aim squarely at beginners, serialised in a journal. Hs now writing another beginner-friendly guide to neural networks with Python because he's convinced secondary school students can make their own.
