Summary

Open Source is much more than just code. In this talk, I will go over all of the different types of non-code contributions, why they matter, and how open source projects/communities can leverage these type of contributions to grow their ecosystem and contributor diversity.

Description

Non-code contributions are the proverbial bridges that connect open source communities. However, in terms of contributing to an ecosystem, often time they are overlooked as second class contributions. This talk will go into why these contributions matter (touching on accessibility, community impact, and more), the different types of non-code contributions (blog post, documentation, speaking at an event, asking a question, etc.), and finally we will touch on ways you and your community can enable these sort of contributions (writing a comprehensive contributing guide, highlighting code and non-code contributors alike, etc.).
