Alexander Backus

Alexander Backus is a lead data scientist and data consultant at BigData Republic, with hands-on consultancy experience in various sectors, including retail, energy, finance, FMCG and airline, covering virtually every industry use case. After obtaining a PhD in cognitive neuroscience, he now provides machine learning and data expertise to organizations such as Yolt, a fintech venture of ING Bank. At Yolt, besides leading the Data Science Chapter, he designs, develops and deploys scalable machine learning solutions, including a real-time financial transaction categorization system.
