Raphael Attie is a postdoc at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. He analyzes the solar activity with the Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO), a space telescope that sends ~1.5 Terabytes of solar observations per day since 2010. Raphael is specialized into tracking the flows of plasma at the solar surface by analyzing the optical flows in series of images. He currently develops a python framework to efficiently derive and visualize the solar plasma flows using the Petabyte-scaled SDO data archive. His project helps in better understanding the evolution of our nearest star and predicting its energetic activity. Raphael holds a PhD in Solar Physics from the Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research and the Technical University of Braunschweig in Germany, and a bachelor's degree in physics from the Université Paul Sabatier in Toulouse (France).
