Babila is the Director of the Business Process Improvement Office (BPIO) for Baltimore's Department of General Services. He is passionate about making government quantifiably better and using Python as a vehicle to get public sector employees to be more collaborative and imaginative about the problem identification, and problem solving process. He started and is co-organizer of the P4CG Python for City Government Process Improvement Meet Up. Prior to joining DGS and establishing the BPIO, he served as an assistant Deputy Mayor for Baltimore, and was an economic development volunteer with Peace Corps Mongolia.
Outside of work, he volunteers as board Vice President for Baltimore Green Space a non profit land trust for the preservation of community managed open space, where he builds management tools for the board and staff with Python.
