Jorge Luis Rivero Pérez

My name is Jorge Luis Rivero Pérez. I born in Cienfuegos, Cuba in 1985. I graduated in Informatics Engineering with the Higher Honours at the University of Cienfuegos in 2009. Then, at the same university I worked as professor-researcher at the Department of Informatics Engineering until 2014. During that period I culminated a Master of Business Administration in 2012 and a Master in Teleinformatics at the Central University of Las Villas in Cuba in 2015, where before, in 2012, I started my PhD in Informatics and Computer Science. During the years 2014 and 2015 I worked as professor and researcher at the Statal University of Guayaquil in Ecuador and at the Chilean campus of the University Santa María also in Guayaquil, Ecuador.

Nowdays I work as researcher in the Data Science Group of the Department of Informatics Engineering of the Faculty of Science and Technology of University of Coimbra in Portugal. Thanks to a Doctoral Mobility funded by the European Commission under the Erasmus Mundus Action 2 Programme, Eureka SD: Enhancing University Research and Education in Areas Useful for Sustainable Development.My research is on machine learning field, developing new algorithms for Big Data learning environments, specifically in data stream mining. Currently I work developing a Zero-shot learning framework based on python for network intrusion detection.

I have 8 years of experience in Python programming. The algorithms proposal that I have developed have been done on frameworks such as: Scikit Learn, NumPy and SciPy. I present twelve publications in scientific journals in the core of informatics engineering. Also presentations in International High Venue Conferences and Workshops in machine learning and other core areas in Computer Science, Financial, Economical and Business Marketing. Four published books and software patents. Also some awards for my researching results such as: Scholarship funded by Erasmus Mundus, Eureka SD: Enhancing University Research and Education in Areas Useful for Sustainable Development. Doctoral Mobility to the University of Coimbra, Portugal.
