Mike Heilman

Mike Heilman is a data scientist at Civis Analytics with a background in natural language processing. He studied Computer Science and Japanese as an undergraduate at the University of Notre Dame, and then went to graduate school for an M.S. and a Ph.D. degree from the Language Technologies Institute in the School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University. He worked on automated scoring of essays and other student writing at Educational Testing Service in New Jersey before coming back to the Midwest to join Civis in 2015.
