PyData Boston Warm-Up in NYC

The New York Python Meetup Group is having a PyData Boston Warm-Up Thursday, July 18 at 7 pm. It will be held at Percolate HQ, 107 Grand Street. This is a great chance for the speakers from the New York area to rehearse their presentations and get feedback from those attending. Thanks to the New York Python Group for organizing this event!

Cathy O'Neil Will Give Keynote on 7/28

We are thrilled to have Cathy O'Neil, Senior Data Scientist at Johnson Research Labs, as the 2nd keynote speaker for PyData Boston! Cathy has also worked as a quant for D.E. Shaw and RiskMetrics. She is co-authoring a book titled "Doing Data Science" to be published this fall by O'Reilly. Check out her blog at mathbabe.org.

CALL FOR SPEAKERS CLOSING SOON

Proposals for talks and tutorials will be accepted through June 3. If you need additional time to prepare your brief abstract and bio, you may submit your topic now and send your abstract and bio by June 7. If you would like to see the tutorials and talks from the last PyData conference in Silicon Valley, go to pydata.org and click on past conferences. Please let us know if your talk is at a beginner, intermediate or advanced level.

First Keynote Speaker Announced

We are excited to announce that Travis Oliphant will be one of the keynote speakers for PyData Boston! Travis is the Co-Founder and CEO of Continuum Analytics and the Chairman of the Board of Directors for NumFOCUS. He has worked extensively with Python for numerical and scientific programming, most notably as the primary developer of the NumPy package, and as a founding contributor of the SciPy package. He is also the author of the definitive "Guide to NumPy".

Early Bird Registration Now Open

Early Bird registration for PyData Boston will be open through June 27. We are excited to be holding our first conference in the Boston area. Space is limited at the NERD Center and we do expect to sell out. Make sure you register early, it's going to be a great event!
