Pragyansmita Nayak

Dr. Pragyansmita Nayak is a Technical and Data Architect in the Momentum Product Development Group at CGI Federal Inc. She has been employed at CGI since 2004. She holds Ph.D. in Computational Sciences and Informatics (under the esteemed guidance of social influencer Dr. Kirk Borne at GMU, Fairfax, VA) and Bachelors in Computer Science (BITS Pilani, India). Her thesis focused on application of Machine Learning techniques -- Generalized Linear Model and Bayesian Networks -- on the estimation of the Photomorphic Redshift of the galaxies using Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) data. Prior to CGI, she worked with Novell India Development Center, Wipro Global R&D and IIT Madras ERNET Point of Presence (PoP) as software developer and consultant.

She is an avid meetup and hackathon participant. She has recently won the AngelHack DC HPE Haven OnDemand (HOD) challenge. She won the best graduate poster prize at the Mid-Atlantic Sigma Xi competition. She continuously receives rave reviews on her training programs at CGI involving technical architecture, C++ framework and databases. Software design and development, data science and learning new technologies and programming languages are her passion. She is currently learning more on Apache Spark, Tensorflow and Deep Learning. She lives with her husband in Washington DC. She loves reading, cooking, photography and knitting\embroidery in her spare time.
