Conference Overview

PyData Yerevan 2022 will be a 2-day event with Talks, Tutorials, keynote speakers, and community events.

We welcome attendees with wide varieties of experiences, expertise, and backgrounds to create a diverse and compelling learning opportunity. Users, contributors, and newcomers can share experiences and learn from one another to solve hard problems and grow a stronger community.

Presentations will be given live with opportunities for questions and answers to facilitate a more engaging experience and a deeper discussion. Presentations will come in a variety of formats, such as workshops, talks, and panel discussions to create diverse learning experiences.

Following each session, a recording will be posted to attendees for continued viewing. At the conclusion of the Summit, all presentations will be posted on YouTube.

The event will be in-person at the American University of Armenia (40 Marshal Baghramyan Ave, Yerevan 0019, Armenia).

About PyData

PyData is an educational program of NumFOCUS, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization in the United States. PyData provides a forum for the international community of users and developers of data analysis tools to share ideas and learn from each other. The global PyData network promotes discussion of best practices, new approaches, and emerging technologies for data management, processing, analytics, and visualization. PyData communities approach data science using many languages, including (but not limited to) Python, Julia, and R.

We aim to be an accessible, community-driven conference, with novice to advanced level presentations. PyData tutorials and talks bring attendees the latest project features along with cutting-edge use cases.

NumFOCUS

The mission of NumFOCUS is to promote sustainable high-level programming languages, open code development, and reproducible scientific research. We accomplish this mission through our educational programs and events as well as through fiscal sponsorship of open source scientific computing projects. We aim to increase collaboration and communication within the data science and scientific computing community.

NumFOCUS is a 501(c)3 public charity in the United States.

Vahe Hakobyan is a senior applied scientist at Zalando SE. Previously the founder and team-lead of PicsArt AI Research team in Armenia. He has two master degrees: Computer Science from University of Bonn, with specialisation in Machine Learning, and Mathematics from Yerevan State University, with specialisation in Differential Equations. Active member and one of the founders of the Armenian Data Science Community. Evangelist of engineering and machine learning best practices.

Habet Madoyan is the inaugural Chair of the BS in Data Science Program at the American University of Armenia. The areas of his scientific expertise include conjoint analysis, machine learning, predictive modelling, data visualisation. He is the founder of a data-science consulting company and is active in the data sciences community, start-ups, and the Yerevan R users' Group Meetup. Habet is also the co-founder of data science consulting company Datamotus.

Lusine is the President of the Armenian branch of Plat.AI: a company which builds data science solutions for a wide range of businesses. Lusine also works for international organizations as a consultant to support different government bodies in facilitating evidence-based policy making through utilization of all available data sources. She has also held different data-related positions in research institutions, public and private organizations. Her main interests include the application of big data analysis in new domains which can bring either added social value or commercial benefit.

Erik hambardzumyan’s first research experience took place at CRRC Armenia in 2016 where he completed a junior fellowship researching social survey data. In 2017 he joined PicsArt as a data scientist to the artificial intelligence team and worked on various projects employing big data technologies until 2021. In late 2021 he joined Webb Fontaine and is working on data insights projects. In 2022 he joined American University of Armenia as an adjunct lecturer. His main interests include A/B testing, causal inference, data mining, and insight analytics in big data.
