Executives at PyData is a facilitated discussion session for executives and leaders to discuss challenges around designing and delivering successful data projects, organizational communication, product management and design, hiring, and team growth.<\/p>\n

We’ll announce the agenda at the start of the session, you can ask questions or raise issues to get feedback from other leaders in the room, NumFOCUS board members, and Ian and James.<\/p>\n

Jupyter Sprint | Saturday 13:30-15:30, Beaufort Room<\/h2>\n

Join us for the \u201cMake your first Jupyter open-source contribution\u201d Sprint in the Beaufort room. This sprint is open to everyone and no separate ticket is required. Just show up ready to learn and make a contribution!In this sprint, we will guide you step-by-step to show you how to make an open-source contribution to JupyterLab and other parts of Project Jupyter. We will start with a short tutorial on how to use Git and GitHub, how to author a change to a project, and how to open a pull request. We will also provide a list of curated issues that are straightforward to resolve to offer a good place to start. Make your first (or nth) Jupyter open-source contribution by opening a pull request today.<\/p>\n

Lightning talks will take place at the end of the day on Saturday and Sunday in the plenary room. They will be 5-minute talks on any topic of interest for the PyData community. Sign-ups will be at the registration table. If we get more sign-ups than allotted spots we will randomly select talks out of a hat. We encourage anyone interested to sign-up for a 5-minute slot.<\/div>\n

PyData Organizer Luncheon | Sunday, 12:30, Gallery Lounge<\/h2>\n

We invite all PyData chapter organizers and those interested in getting involved to a luncheon social on Sunday. Organizers will meet in the side room in the Gallery Lounge (adjacent to the main hall). Come and meet fellow organizers or learn about what goes into organizing a chapter. This informal gathering will be a great chance to meet new people and learn from one another.[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator color=”peacoc”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row opacity_bg_pattern=”0.1″ el_id=”Unconference”][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

Unconference Track | All-day Sunday, Beaufort Room<\/h2>\n

Informal sessions led by attendees will be running all day Sunday, 19 June in the Beaufort Room. Unconference sessions are facilitated discussions on topics of interest, impromptu hacking sessions on a specific topic\/library, anything that is on topic for the conference but falls outside the formal talks\/tutorials tracks — if you’d like to lead a session, propose your idea to the organisers at the registration desk and reserve time on the schedule.\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row disable_element=”yes” opacity_bg_pattern=”0.1″][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

BoF (Birds of a Feather) Sessions | October 28-30<\/h2>\n

Birds of a Feather sessions (or BoFs) are informal gatherings of like-minded individuals who wish to discuss a certain topic without a pre-planned agenda. For example, BoFs allow groups to meet and discuss issues relating to regular conference sessions and talk out common problems facing the community. But BoFs don’t need to be about the community or even PyData, they may also be held to share your local favorite chocolate or coffee with each other or discuss knitting patterns.<\/p>\n

Have fun and learn! BoFs exist to provide attendees with an inclusive, informal environment in which to share ideas freely. BoFs can be serious, and a great way to gather the people you\u2019ve been working with remotely on a project in a space to deep dive on a topic, but they can also be fun as well.<\/p>\n
